Lauri Ann's New Life

We were able to get into the mobile home yesterday and see the bathroom and back bedroom which we weren't able to see from the outside a couple of days before. I was both surprised and happy to see that the toilet and tub/shower were still intact. He had taken out the vanity in the bathroom and replaced it with a pedestal sink. There is a mirror and some kind of pebbling on the wall behind the sink where the medicine chest used to be. He did a terrible job on the plumbing to the sink, as you can see by the picture.


I called the police yesterday right after we got there. I really didn't want to disturb anything before having them file a report. I also re-posted the "No Trespassing" signs that the Perp had torn down the last time he went inside. As we were waiting for the police to show up, we went ahead and got most of the measurements for everything and started figuring out what could go where.

I am very happy to report it looks like I'll be able to keep my office set up and my china hutch. LOL. The rest is questionable. Actually, the living room and dining room furniture we have now came from the mobile when I sold it, so we should be able to just move it right back Not so sure about my bedroom furniture as it is a bit larger than the furniture we had in there originally. This guy tore out the sliding closet doors that went the full length of the bedroom, so it has been tempting to think about arranging things a little differently this time.

 The police finally came and supposedly filed a report. I'm going to test that theory this morning. There is a nice rubbermaid shed outside, mostly on my driveway, partially on the lot next door. It's full of tools etc. that belong to the perpetrator. Stuff he leaves behind by law, he actually has 15 days to retrieve before I can do anything with it. I had told my girlfriend who lives a couple doors down that if this man came back, to call 911 immediately as I don't want him doing any more damage.

We weren't home long at all when she called to let me know he was there and she had called the police. The policeman that showed up happened to be the same policeman that had filed the report for me earlier. The perp told him the shed was on the other lot, not on mine, and he was retrieving his tools. The policeman told him if he went inside the mobile he would be arrested, and then he left for another call. The Perp is supposed to send two of his co-workers today to retrieve the rest.

This morning we are headed out to get new locks for the doors and look for a sliding door which somehow the frame has been busted. There happens to be a warehouse or "yard" with a lot of used items for contractors located not too far from the mobile. I've put an ad on Craig's List for anyone in the area that is remodeling and wants to get rid of anything (cupboards, flooring, etc). I keep looking on Craig's List for things we can use, along with Freecycle. We're pretty broke with paying the landlord here yesterday along with our 30 day notice. I will be trying to get packed pretty quickly and told him I would try and help him re-rent.

Now that we've assessed the damage inside, we can start with the re-building.

Happy New Year everyone! A New Year brings with it a chance for new beginnings, new projects, and new directions. Due to a "real estate deal gone bad" that is exactly where I am today.

The man that had bought my mobile home on an installment contract decided not to honor the contract and has moved out. The mobile home has reverted back to me to rebuild the whole inside which he completely gutted on the way out. All that's left is the shell. Definitely not resalable.

This is a picture of what used to be the kitchen, going into the living room. He took everything including the kitchen sink. LOL. The first time we were able to see inside the mobile and start to assess the damage was Friday, December 31st, which for a lot of people was essentially a holiday. We weren't able to get in as we need to get a locksmith to open and re-key the locks. I half expected this, but my boyfriend and partner in this project, was devastated. He could not believe anyone with any conscience at all could do something like this. I posted "No Trespassing" signs so if he should come back to do any more damage, I can call the police.

Normally, I would not be able to pursue a deficiency judgment against the buyer, but because he damaged the mobile home, it opens the door for me to sue him. It won't do much good as far as getting what he owes me, but it will be on his record for a minimum of the next 10 yrs.

All kinds of thoughts have been swirling around in my head. I need to look over my Homeowner's policy, which he never paid me for, and see if they will cover anything. We, like a good portion of America, have no savings so we will be doing this as cheaply as possible. This blog will be a record of our journey.

On Friday, just to ad insult to injury, I received a 3-day notice from the park owner for this man's past due rent and utilities. If I didn't pay it, the park owner could demand I move my mobile out of the park. This is just another $560.00 added to what he owes me.

Of course Saturday was New Year's Day and Sunday locksmiths and police non-emergency are closed, so we spent the weekend in the planning stages. We have decided in order to move our stuff out of the place we are in, we will need to put down flooring first. I had found free laminate on Craig's List, but didn't move fast enough. That is my first lesson learned.

Today I am giving my 30-day notice to the landlord, setting an appointment with the locksmith, setting an appointment with the police, and contacting my lawyer. Today I will find out if he took the toilet and shower along with everything else.

I don't know if you missed this, but I surely did and I have no idea how.

Tylenol has been recalled again. This is the fifth recall for the company that makes Tylenol, coming on the heals of a recall for Children's Tylenol, in the last 9 months. This time also being recalled is the popular pain reliever Motrin IB. Thursday's recall includes certain versions of Children's Tylenol, adult-strength Benadryl, Motrin IB, Tylenol Extra Strength, Tylenol Day & Night and Tylenol PM. The affected medicines were sold in America, Puerto Rico, Fiji, Guatemala, the Dominican Republic, Trinidad and Tobago, and Jamaica.

I haven't felt Tylenol was a very safe alternative to aspirin for a long time. I don't know if you happened to read what happened to my son's friend who almost lost his liver to Tylenol titled "Another Tylenol Crisis", but it seems to me now this company is just getting careless with our safety.

Apparently with all the talk about sexual dysfunction in men, they have decided now that they have Viagra and Cyalis, to concentrate on sexual dysfunction in women. If they could get women to buy into this, there is a whole lot more money to be made. These studies crack me up! There is no common sense. These are supposed scientific studies that are going to cure all our woes as far as women having problems sexually. Oh you goofy guys!

I got a newsletter in my email the other day. I follow this doctor because he's not the "norm" when it comes to scientific thinking. According to Dr. Douglass of the Douglass Report, there is a new study out that says that 43% of women suffer from sexual dysfunction and that the subjects used for this study ranged in age from, I think it was 18 to 100. Not only did they study how many women were sexually dysfunctional, but then how many were stressed about it. As you can imagine, the group closer to 100 admitted to being more sexually dysfunctional, and less stressed about it. LOL. Imagine that! Although, I don't know, I'm at age 55 and I'd probably be pretty upset to learn I was sexually dysfunctional.

Now, from my point of view, what really is "sexually dysfunctional" for women? I would say women become sexually dysfunctional when they don't get what they need emotionally from the mate they're with. For most of us we need that emotional connection, the love and affection that isn't generally necessary for a man to have sex with anything or any body. It's not that we can't have sex, it's more like we don't want to.

What else is different? Oh yeah, we were never really allowed to talk about sex, so when our bodies go through changes, we don't really know how to handle it. Who can we really talk to? By the time I'm post menopausal, mom either hasn't had sex in so long she can't remember, or she's dead. Either way, not a plus for me. If it wasn't for reading Cosmo and the Ky Jelly commercials on TV, I would probably figure I'm sexually dysfunctional also. Thank God for Cosmo telling us how to use the KY or I might still have a problem. LOL.

Then there's the fact that we've always been taught masturbating is wrong. If you're a man they told you you would go blind, if you're a female it never really came up. I grew up in the times that the books Xavier Hollander were written and free love was all over the place, so I had a little bit more open mind. If you don't know your own body, how can you introduce someone else? Your sexuality is much the same as any thing else, you have to experiment. You need to find out what feels good to you, what turns you on, before you can guide a partner. Our mothers taught us to just give in during sex. Cosmo and good books teach us how to experience sex, but you still need to put it into action. For most of us to try things on a partner we're not attached to would make us feel bad about ourselves. Why not try it on ourselves, by ourselves? Would clear up a whole lot of women and sexual dysfunctionality!

Really, when you're almost 100 yrs. old, do you think you're going to give a darn about sex one way or the other? No wonder they're less stressed. A bigger question for me by then is going to be something like "where in the heck did I leave my teeth?". lol.

I don't write on this blog a whole lot, because I have a tendency to save it for things I'm really passionate about. As a Californian, I'm really passionate about 1) I don't believe Barbara Boxer should even be in office 2) I'm passionate about a US Senator being so egotistical about being called a "Senator" vs. "Ma'am" from a military officer, that she obviously sees as beneath her, as she's drilling him on something she doesn't understand. I'm also very passionate about the fact that she says "I worked so hard for that title" while she was "allegedly" check kiting in California, and that she would never be where she is if people voted with intelligence instead of the name they've heard the most on TV.

I am a military brat. My father was in the Marines. I wear it proudly now, even if I didn't enough when I was younger. As a military brat, I was raised to say "Sir" and "Ma'am". This officer did not say it as a defiance, as a derogatory thing. He said it as he would address a woman. I am sure if the "Senator" that stated what she did had been a man, he just as probably would have said "Sir".

I am always astounded at how stupid this woman can be, and I don't know why. Being that she is from California, I should be used to it! Take a look and see what you think. Feel free to leave a comment and even if you're a "Boxer" fan, I will approve it. Just remember, I had her for years in California first. LOL.

I can't believe what I received in my inbox this morning. It was a letter from a doctor imploring people to not purposely expose themselves and their children to the Swine flu or H1N1 Virus, whichever you prefer.

Does this really have to be pointed out? I'm old enough to remember the days when my mother sent me out to play with every sick kid in the neighborhood so I could catch the chickenpox, measles, etc. and get it over with. People, if you think getting the swine flu now will save you later, that's not how the swine flu virus works. Not only that but if you have some underlying medical issue, maybe one you don't even know about, it can kill you! Of course the regular flu is deadly for some also, but this stuff is too dangerous to mess around with.

If you read my last post that started out about Obama Healthcare, as you read down further it explains about how I feel about the swine flu vaccine. To me that's sort of like playing Russian Roulette. They haven't tested it properly. The drug makers are not responsible if people die from it. I think that's 2 good reasons to stay away from it right there.

Like everyone else is pushing these days, the best protection from the swine flu is to wash your hands often and keep them away from your face (specifically eyes, nose, and mouth). Try to stay away from overly crowded public places. Build your immune system. I myself am lucky enough to be a distributor for the #1 vitamin maker in the world so I take my multivitamin, echinacea (I know they tried to say echinacea doesn't work, but in our family this particular one has been a Godsend), and Calcium with Vitamin D. Of course, the best vitamin D is from sunshine, but now that it's starting to turn cold and getting dark earlier, a lot of us can't get what we need from the sun. Like anything, the better quality your vitamins and supplements are, the better your immunity to the swine flu.

Everyone's all astir over the new "Obamacare" health plan, and it's really no wonder. Anytime big government gets involved, it always seems to lead to a disaster. What is really scary is this bill is supposedly over 1000 pages long, and when questioned on more than one occasion about something specific in the bill, President Obama says he "wasn't aware" it was part of the bill. I would think reading this thing and possibly taking a few notes would be a major priority since he wants to get it passed so bad. Of course, what do I know? I'm just one of the millions of Americans that has to live with the outcome, just like you.

I've never understood how insurance companies could complain about the high cost of healthcare (being the reason behind raising premiums) but never want to pay for preventative care.

About that Swine flu shot...

I'm seeing signs all over the drug stores to get your flu shot (with them of course). The flu shot the government is after everyone to get which is supposed to protect against the Swine Flu isn't even out yet. I guess the good news is instead of having to get 4 flu shots as it was when I first started reading about the new vaccine, now we're down to 2. I personally am not a fan of any flu shot, least of all one that has never been tested for safety in humans.

If that doesn't scare you, this should. Not only do they have no idea how it will react in children,
but the 2006 Public Readiness and Emergency Preparedness Act (the PREP Act) allows the DHHS Secretary to invoke almost complete immunity from liability for manufacturers of vaccines and drugs used to combat a declared public health emergency. This law removes your right to a trial jury unless you can provide clear evidence of willful misconduct that resulted in death or serious physical injury. But that's not all. First you must apply for and be granted permission to sue by the DHHS Secretary. Isn't that a bit like putting the fox in the hen house?

What it boils down to is we, the public at large are nothing more than "lab rats". The government and drug makers will worry about the side effects when they start getting reports, until then they'll just keep inoculating. In 1976 more people died from the vaccine (25) than from the flu (1). They ended up pulling the vaccine after only 10 weeks. Now, in a secret letter to neurologists because it seems to be linked to some killer nerve disease, there seems to be the same problem with this vaccine as there was then, plus one. They are using an ingredient they have no studies on at all to fall back on, to predict how humans will react. You can read the whole article about the secret letter here. I think I'll take my chances with the flu. In our county, they aren't even going to try to give it to everyone. They announced it would be too big an undertaking.

And then, last but not least...

Has anyone noticed how they are using pharmacists, nurses, doctors girlfriends to advertise Alli these days. Ever since they came out with the news that it seems to be linked to liver damage, I don't see much of Wynonna Judd as spokesperson. Feel free to read "I Knew Alli Was Too Good To Be True" here.
